I don't want to hear about how it's a sin.

If your mat has card outlines, it is probably meant to be used for spreads (laying the cards into a pattern); however, there are many different spreads which one can use to interpret the cards and also numerous decks disigned by magicians, esoterics, and believers. The cards' depictions vary somewhat according to the creator's wishes. Generally, the decks will be accompanied by manuals describing the cards' meanings (with emphasis upon the Major Arcana); if you are serious about learning the art of interpretation, you should read several books devoted to Tarot, especially the one related to the deck you possess. The reverse or inverse positions of the cards when laid in a spread are usually regarded as more negative than the same card in the upright position, although some of the cards are negative in connotation in the upright position. The drawings/paintings are intended to be symbolic, thus the cards are often used for meditation as there is a universe of knowledge and enlightenment which one can derive from such study.

personally i dont use reverse
there are enough cards in the deck to hold both possitive and negative aspects
so i throw away the book , deal the cards and read what i see
we dont need to be giving people doom and gloom ... but guidance
