Don't boil, it'll cook off some of the flavor. Use a rub of dry spices first. You need to BBQ or bake them for a long time at low heat. Start basting with your BBQ after they've cooked for about 2/3 of the time.

The best I have ever had were boiled first about 15 minutes. then placed in a shallow pan and cooked in a low oven about 300 for 2-3 hours. During the last hour I start applying BBQ sauce about every 20 minutes.

One other way is to brown them in a fry pan with no oil. Place in a crock pot. If baby back ribs you will have to cut into smaller pieces). Pour equal parts ketchup. BBQ sauce and water in crockpot with sliced up onion, green pepper slices and celery.

The second one is my favorite. I start it in the morning and let it cook on low all day.

Take & place 1/2 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce in bottom of crockpot. Lay ribs on top in single layer. Add 2 cloves minces garlic & pour over enough sauce to cover. Cook on high 6 - 7 hours or low for 12 - 14. They will be so tender, they fall apart!! Don't forget some good homemade coleslaw to serve with.....Yummy!

My dad would always cook his ribs in a pressure cooker before grilling them. If you don't have a pressure cooker, I would try using a slow cooker. Boiling them would be a last resort.

I think you can boil them for about an hour then bake or grill.

you boil them until when you pricked a fork into it, it easily goes through the whole meat. you'll see the difference if it's not tender because if you picked a fork to it, it's still hard.
