I dont know what to get though, I don't want to approach the tattoo artist with empty ideas, I was thinking a grenade, maybe camoflauge flames, or a dog tag, anyone have any suggestions.

HEY! Big tattoos on women are beautiful....tattoos are beautiful in general if done correctly. I know someone who has dog tags. I got a tattoo to represent me being in the army. I got a grenade and then it says "Combat Candii" I got that name from the army and it has significant meaning to me. So what I'm saying is to get something that signifies something special about the army to you. I also have one that says "shoot to kill" which was my platoon motto, from BCT and BCT was a turning point for me and it turned me into a real woman, a real soldier. So like Blair says, take your ideas and talk to your tattoo artist and you both will be able to some up with something amazing.....good luck.

all of those are great ideas. maybe you could get an exploding camouflage grenade with flames behind it and dog tags arranged around the bottom of it. if you go to a good custom tattoo artist and give them the ideas of what you were thinking of they could come up with a way to incorporate all of it.

Ana,

As an Army Veteran from 72 to 78, the only thing I can say is what did your experiance mean to you. What do you want to remember from those times.

Your unit, friends, your service or campaign.

Remember to be safe, and check the tatoo parlor out first.

I've got an army tattoo with a diving bald eagle, the words "US ARMY" above and below it. I got it 6 months before being discharged (or kicked out depending on how you look at things) for sleepwalking on an FTX. But it's still a cool tattoo. I know people with their unit insignias and their dates of service. Be creative, but eagles are always good.

You could get his rank tattooed by your heart. Or even a fancy heart with a gun, star or something else that represents his army, with something that reminds you of him. :) You could always ask a friend to draw it for you, or even find a few pictures on google and edit them together on paint! :) Hope i helped!!

I've heard that some veterans like to get their division insignias, if applicable. Of course, there is always the standby of the U.S. Army insignia.

Find a good artist to help you design something. It's a talent unto itself.

a eagle flying with the american flag in his talons
a eagle flying carrrying a bomb
the others that have suggested talking to the artist to get input were correct. they might be able to help suggest something. the guys i go to are really helpful and take pride in creating something that no other artist might come up with plus yours would be an original.

also i would like to thank-you for joining the army and protecting our american freedoms. it is you and other soldiers who keep us free.
god bless you all.

What about the american flag with a bald eagle on the front. or something basic like U.S. ARMY. get something small though as your a girl a big tattoo is never flattering on a woman.

This would be the best time to tell the artist the things that you liked about the Army. let the artist use his imagination, you will probably be surprised.
