Can you legally have your refunds direct deposited into someone elses checking or savings account?

You can if its your husband or spouse (i.e. you and someone else filed jointly).

If you feel that it's in the agreement of both parties to do so, then yes, you can.

You can do it, but make sure you can trust that person.
