True that religion itself is the problem not necessarily the existence of a god.

The most interesting thing about the equation "e=mc squared" is that Einstein only persevered so long because he was convinced that god would make something so complicated very simple.

Evolution is a proven fact. God is not proven (nor, apparently, provable) so it is a stretch to say that "god is correct." If you cannot demonstrate the truth of the claim, what point is there in making it? It avails nothing. As for religion being the only thing holding up progress, that is going too far: other forms of ignorance are playing their part also (Marxism, for example). But it is certainly an impediment.

Eh? what kind of progress? Evolution? Conflicting and diverse religions maybe. Many seem to lose the ideologies behind them all. In a way it's like arguing which ink god favors the most.

You're half right. Only evolution is correct. It's a logical fallacy to try to weave God into an evolutionary world view. If you buy into evolution, you simply have to grow up and let go of God. It's no big deal.

disagreed. evolution is pretty much proven all round. God is still only proven by the fact that we can't conclusively prove that he doesn't exist (which is not much of evidence but there you go). Organised religion is holding up progress, yes.

How can they both be correct? God says that with sin came death. Evolutionists say that animals were dying for millions of years before the emergence of man. Is God a liar?

Some religions, only some.

At least that's a valid argument but I would ask for solid evidence that God existed and I wouldn't expect to get any.

proof is rather thin on the ground for religion, as for evolution there is much more, just go to your library.
