It's not a collage and definately not a mosaic. There is a hockney panorama where random photos of the same scene are crudely put together to form a contempory looking photograph but I'm certain Hockney isnt the word your looking for either. The only other I can think of is photo blocks. Every time I see one photo split into multiple images and mounted together as one piece of work, they are referred to as photo blocks. I have occasionally seen a photo split into three and referred to as a tri-panel. Hope that helps.

Good luck with your study!

It could be a photo montage or collage. The question is are you thinking about a digital image made up from lots of other photos. If that is the case it just made by a piece of software, be it very clever software. I would suggest you call it a digital photo composite montage.

I think you may be thinking of a photo mosaic. This is where many different photos are used to re-create one photo. Often, maybe usually?... the original photo is also used in the mosaic.
Do a Yahoo search for "photo mosaic" and you will find many programs, instructions, and explanations. I love that technique!
