The scanner is an object that allow you to make photos and text digital. Get them on computer. There are some programs that recognize the writing like Abby Fine Reader. So you can take a book, scan it and import it to Office Word.
There are many types of scanners, Canon Lide60 - is one of them, make a good work for 100 $. HP, Microtek, ACER, Genius - have some models, so check out.
