KL is correct. Cats are breeding now. There is a two-month gestation period and another two for proper weaning from mother's milk.

By the end of March and all through the summer into the fall there will be many young kittens in need of homes - unfortunately for their young mothers and other older cats who are passed over in shelters for the kittens.

www.petfinder.com. You may want to wait until closer to Spring...the shelters will be swarming with un-wanted litters.
