MEET JESUS
A Message from Ken Henderson
Reflect with me for a moment concerning the world we live in. We are constantly bombarded with news headlines of terrorism, world hunger, wars, earthquakes, tsunamis, drugs, suicides, epidemics, child abuse, and broken families. Does this world seem like a frightening place, a hopeless planet that is spinning out of control?
We have all heard the name of God used many times, even in cursing. But who is He really? Can He really help us? Is He listening? Is He watching? Does He care? Can He rescue us, and if so, what is His plan?
On December 6th 1978 at age 23, I was a broken and defeated prisoner of sin, with no hope, no future and no love. An extreme life-changing experience happened to me, and I am sure this can also happen to you. I had a moment’s revelation of who Jesus really is, where God opened the “eyes” of my heart, and I knew that Jesus was real, that He lives, and that He loves me, and that love had invaded my world with His forgiveness, freedom, comfort and the promise of eternal life. It happened when I turned my heart to Him.
The Bible says in John 10:10; “The thief comes to kill, steal and destroy, but Jesus comes to give life and that abundantly.”
1. Tim.1;15: “Christ came into the world to save sinners.”
Eph 2; 8-9: “By grace you have been saved through faith, and not of yourselves. It is a gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast.”
2. Peter 3:9: “God is not willing that any should perish, but all to come to repentance”.
Please realize that our sin has strong eternal consequences. The Bible also says, “For the wages of sin is death”. Hell is unfortunately real, and was created for Satan and his followers. Do you follow Jesus or do you follow after sin and this hopeless world?
Lastly, Jesus says: “Behold I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears My voice and opens the door, I will come to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.” (Rev. 3:20)
It says He is “standing” not sitting, signifying quick mobility. It means He could turn away at any moment. He is knocking patiently, persistently, but not forever. We must respond now. We must open the door and let Him in. None of us know what tomorrow might bring.
Imagine the Creator of the heavens and the earth, born of a virgin and sent into this world on a mission to restore humanity back to fellowship with God. He was tempted, yet lived without sin. He raised the dead, healed the sick and fed the multitudes, confronted hypocrisy, and was a friend of the sinners. With the greatest of love He suffered the indescribable torture of the Cross. Phil. 2:6-8 says, “He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on the Cross”. In His dying moments you were in His thoughts. He looked into the future and saw your life, He knows your name, your pain, your loneliness, your broken heart, and says; “I can fix that”.
Meet Jesus now. Talk to Him. He is listening. Call on Him. Maybe you once walked with Him, but somehow fell away. Do not let your past hold you back. Go into the rest of your life with the One who made you and has the master plan for your life. He will answer and save you, as you call on Him. He promises as you turn your life over to Him, He will write your name in the Lamb’s Book of Life. (Revelation 21-27)
Let’s pray:
Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God, that You died and You conquered death, hell and the grave. Thank you for fighting for me. Please forgive me of all my sins. Come and live in me. Teach me Your ways. Fill me fresh with the Holy Spirit, and give me strength to follow You and live for You all the days of my life. Create a clean heart in me, O God, and renew a right spirit in me. Amen.”
If you prayed this prayer, boldly tell others. Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.”
I would love to hear from you and pray for you.
