Is it bad to apply 100% tea tree oil directly to the face using a cotton ball? If it is, why? If not, would it help?

Yes it dries out your skin far too much the same if you rubbed metho on your face. It is good for the skin like getting rid of blemishes but you need to water it down, mix it in some water and use as a face wash or into a moisturizer. Full strength tea tree oil will do damage to your skin, and your skin is what keeps bacteria from getting into your body so take care of it. You can buy tea tree oil based products for the skin like facial scrubs buy them instead.

I'm not sure, but I would think that applying anything that had "oil" on the label to your face would be a bad move. It would make ME break out, at least.
