You could try Kyle or Kurt Busch. Nobody else wants to talk to them and they would have PLENTY to say to you.

I have NASCAR contacts, and had press credentials to 3 NASCAR weekends last year (Indy and Michigan).

You might talk to the newbies in the Truck series, as well as those on the fringes of NASCAR Cup series. There is no chance in h*ll that you can get anywhere close to the top 35 teams / names in Cup. As a reporter, I can interview most of Truck guys all day long, but unless you're TV or major radio, you're not gonna get close to Junior, Tony, etc. There are two reasons for this:

a. The networks have huge contracts with the big sponsors, and will protect those contracts. This means that it doesn't matter who is driving the UPS car, FOX will always give you reports on how it is doing. They will keep other reporters away from those teams -- in fact, I had Fox literally throw me out of my position near Jeff Gordon's pit during a race.

b. Trust. Seriously, those drivers (and crews) are now victims of their fame. Think about it -- if you're Junior, can you really go grocery shopping (Kerry said that Junior has his girlfriend do that)? Tony, Jeff G, etc literally need a dozen bodyguards just to get them from their garage stall to their hauler!!!

The first thing that these people want to know is if you pose a threat to them, or at least want to use them. If I publish something that "hits the fan" (ie, Driver X having an affair, etc), then that story literally jeopardizes the livelihood of 200 people.

I can't give you that info since you don't way what it's for. If I gave you any contact info, then I'd lose the trust of my NASCAR contacts, and I'd be outta business.

This explains why you have to start at the bottom, and earn the trust of the NASCAR people. Perhaps you can meet a few people in the regional series, or maybe even ARCA. You then cultivate those relationships as those drivers move up, or retire. NASCAR is really a gold old boy's network, and until you're a trusted member of that network, you're not gonna get more than an autograph.

There are some good points on here but just about every driver has his/her own web site. Some of these web sites have contact info (pr folks and such) and if you don't sound like a total nut job, they might pass the message to the driver, team manager, whom ever.

You could simply go to different team websites and try to communicate through their contact page. Depends on if you are trying to get a job, or just a leisurely friendly chat. If you are looking for a job, many websites such as www.joegibbsracing.com and www.nascar.com have plenty of contact info on where to send resumes.

If you're looking for a leisurely chat, try using their guestbook and placing your email. I am alwasy signing Bobby Labonte's guestbook at www.bobbylabonte.com and leaving my email in the box, so that other nascar fans, or even Bobby himself could contact me if need be.

Hope this helps, if not feel free to email me at trichter.96050@yahoo.com subject yahoo answers.

Alright, if you need to talk to someone like that, than good luck. The people that know the drivers or crew personally and have their emails arent willing to give them out to random people. So good look trying to find someone that will. Because i'm not talking.

Good luck buddy!

I just don't see any top driver making his (or her) IM or personal email address available to you.
