I got my daughter out of her crib at around three. She was able to get out. And then I knew it was time for her to get a new bed. We ended up getting an adult twin. My mother's actually. She has never fallen out. But, we kept her crib in the room with her stuffed animals in there for about 6 months. That way she knew that it didn't just disappear. Once we put the crib up, she was just fine with it. Never cried, never, begged for it back, nothing.
Good Luck!

My daughter started climbing out of her crib at 15 months so I put her in a toddler bed then.

My daughter didn't have a toddler bed.. At 10 months she was in a regular twin bed (mattress on the floor) with bedrails because of an accident she had in her crib. After a spill she took trying to climb out she refused to sleep in the crib any longer. I comprimised by putting her into the twin bed. She loved it.

My oldest son climbed out of his crib when he turned 2. I put him in a twin bed. Those toddler beds are a waste of money. They only have a weight limit of like 90 lbs so if your child had a hard time transitioning into the bed from the crib, you can't lay in bed with him. Plus my son loves when I lay in bed with him before bedtime reading and telling him stories.

about 16 1/2 months I found her climbing out of her crib. I got scared that she'd try it in the dark & fall & hurt herself. She moved into her toddler bed. The first several nights she was excited to be able to get out of bed & did, but then got used to it & sleeps in it all night now. She's 18 months now

My daughter was 21 months when we put her in a toddler bed- because she kept climbing out of her crib and would silently play with all her toys!!!

about 18 months; it's not so much of an "age" guideline; you should ask yourself if you feel your baby is ready for a toddler bed and if a toddler bed would be safer. I put my daughter in at 18 months because she learned to climb out at that point and i was terrified she would fall and really hurt herself.

When he started climbing out of the crib, I think he was about 2. It gets dangerous when they are climbing out all the time, you can get a kid bed that uses the crib mattress.

Both of my kids were about 18 months. When they first slept in a big bed I made sure there was a guard rail to keep them from rolling out and then I also layed with them until they feel asleep for about the first week just to help them adjust to the change, this also kept them from getting out of bed all the time.
