you need to add a little more detail, wheel size 20" 26" or 700c - within these sizes depending upon application you will find spoke numbers ranging from 16 to 48. have a look at the Sheldon Brown web site its all there.

kind of a hard question to answer...there are 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 24, 26, 29, 700c Wheels...there are 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 Nylon Spoked mags. Their are Carbon disc wheels. 12, 16, 24, 28, 32, 36, 48, 96 spoked wheels just to name a few let alone if you are missing spokes from twigs or grinding. There are wheels that use different guaged spokes (12g, 14g, 16g etc.) to use lesser spokes or different lacing patterns to make the wheel stronger (radial, 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x etc.) There are so many wheels in so many sizes that you need to specify on the wheel type, wheel size and the bike type to determine this.

About as many as you want, really. Although there are
*typical* spoke counts but as the previous poser mentioned it also depends on wheel size and use.

For a 26" MTB wheel, 36 is a common number. for 700c road wheels, 36 & 32 is pretty common although the "low spoke count" wheels are more and more common. 20" wheels can be 32, 36 or 48 most commonly.

Again, your mileage may vary.

For mountain bikes 26 inch tires, 32 spokes is like the standard. You can se 36 spokes, and some fancy wheelsets have 28 or 24 (but they require stronger spokes). I had a 24 wheelset (Mavic Crossland) which was nice, but not very rigid. I'm going for a 32 spokes.

well, disk wheels are sort of 1 spoke

then there are 3 and 4 spoke wheels, and then even numbers from 16 to 48 in various increments.
