I had to check my scar-- mine WAS on the right

Right side.
If you have appendicitis, you should have localized, and quite intense pain on the right side of your abdomen.
Be careful and insist on treatment from your doctor. Appendicitis cannot be diagnosed directly until appendix burst and you have septicemia, which is highly dangerous.
