Does anyone know of any great online support groups for family members and friends who support their loved ones in the military. I suppose I'm looking for a group with a more upbeat tone than the ones I've already found. Perhaps one with a cheery group of people who will leave me uplifted rather than depressed. Thanks in advance for all responses.

There is some forums in military.com but then I found my favorite
http://forum.cinchouse.com/eve
It was started by this lady Meredith Leyva who also wrote "Married to the Military" There are forums for all of the branches in the miltary. It's addicting, a lot of them are fun to read and it has great info on LOTS of things.

I don't know your personal situation but I am sick of people going on an on about the FRG or what ever other support group that the command THEIR husbands are attached to provide Don't they know that there are LOTS of us wives who have husbands on unaccompanied tours in places like Bahrain, Korea and such who have NO command sponsored support here in the states. As a Navy wife, I have found Fleet A Family Services no help at all. I have found Navy Marine Relief Society no help and the other on-lie support groups no help. Good luck with your search. I find mot on-line groups are over run by those claiming to be military wives when they are just trying to start an argument.

This isn't a group, but it is supposed to help with real issues that the ones left behind face: www.militaryspousemagazine.com.
Also, there should be a family readiness group (FRG) they are made up of the spouses left behind. Ask your military-man who is in charge of that group and get their phone number. They will be there for you.

This is the one I've used to help me during my husband's deployment. On this one, we share the good with the bad, the laughs and the tears, the joys and the heartaches. There are also alot of us on myspace that are only a click away. We all need to help each other thru times like these, and we are bound by a common thread that nobody can break.
