My wife used a roller with very small spikes that just perforated the surface and then used Tide detergent in hot water. She put it on the wall with a sponge. This worked well, but it still takes time to do it. The mixture has to soak in. Be warned though, nothing short of setting wallpaper on fire will take it off quickly. And, BTW, be careful with heat guns, they can cause problems especially with foam backed trim and popcorn ceilings! Hope it helps!

Try using DIF. First score the paper so the DIF get's underneath. Then just spray like you are now, wait a little bit and the paper should peel right off.

On a recent home improvement show on HGTV they used a mix of water and fabric softener after scoring the paper. The paper came right off.

The idiots that lived in the house before me, decided to wallpaper a border to the sheet rock directly. It was a pain in the rear to get off. a vinegar solution worked wonders.

Score the wallpaper (tool available from any hardware store) and fill a bucket with DIF. Apply to scored wallpaper with a sponge, let sit to absorb, then scrape with a putty knife.

the best remedy is a heat gun. Can you rent one from Home Depot or something?
