What I mean is that any person is automatically granted the right to have kids. I believe this is so stupid. History and life itself are filled with miseries and I believe its about time someone put a limit to that. Not every body has what it takes to have children. Some people are just not cut out for the job.

I see what you mean, some people are not made to have children. But what if someone was and they didn't pass the test? They would have no children for life. Parents need to realize they shouldn't be a bad example to children or doing bad things to them, like : abuse, drugs, alcohol and so on...If people don't want children they shouldn't have them and they when they "accidently" get pregnant they think they can abort the child without a feeling in the world.
Overall, it's people's responsibilities to decide themselves whether they are ready for a child or not.

So by what parameters do we test people? How do we set a scale? Who administers the test and who decideds who passes and who fails? What one person thinks is good parenting isn't what another thinks is good parenting.
For example--our family believes in natural/attachment parenting. We co-sleep, wear the baby, breastfeed, etc. But another family might think all of that is crazy and think a crib is best, they don't believe in breastfeeding, etc. So, if I were to grade their test wouldn't I possibly fail them because they don't agree with me? They're not any worse as parents they just parent differently. But how are we to remain subjective when there are so many different cultures and so many different parenting styles?
This is a stupid question. There is no way you can test someone for something like parenthood.

Yeah, that's what I want more government regulation on what I can and can't do with my body.
But none the less, I get what you are saying...any idiot can have sex and create a child...unfortunately its usually the idiots who do it so well.
Then again...Look at the DMV...it doesn't take a genius to pass that test. Hence all the stupid drivers on the road. So that's not really working...just another way for the government to take your $$.

Who would do the testing? Other humans who are just as flawed as the prospective parents.
AND...we all know that everyone who takes a driver's test and is granted a driver's license turns out to be an EXCELLENT driver...right?

Wouldn't it be nice if we had to earn the privilege to be a parent. It's just too easy to have babies. Imagine the population control, and the amount of responsible people raising responsible kids!!

i agree completely. you have to have a license to drive a car, hunt, and even catch a fish! but anyone who is old enough to have sex can have children. it's sad.
