Most states have gone to the law that you have to be 18 to get any sexually based piercing. Some state laws will allow a PARENT or guardian to sign but even that young most still wont do it. Tongue is one of those considered sexually because of the general intention. Don't do that to your mouth at such a young age. Get your eyebrow or something simple ... Tongue rings can wreck your teeth and at 13 you are still going to get more teeth. Just not wise at that age. Think about it first. Talk to a dentist and a professional piercer. I bet they will tell you the same thing. If they agree to do it don't get it done there, who knows what other laws they step around, yuck!

-- To clarify, you can't just take someone 18 with you, they have to be legally in control of you. That is nationwide law.

I believe that that differs from state to state, but piercers are discouraged from piercing the tongues of minors. The reason is there is a large vein or artery that runs through your tongue...if cut you could bleed to death. I got my tongue pierced when I was 18 I was really excited about it...then while the guy was piercing it it poped right out and had to be pierced again.

I left it in for several years but... when I would get a cold and cough to hard it would rip the piercing...this was a big pain in the *** so I finally took out my tongue ring...I am happier with it gone besides I couldn't eat solid food for over a week and i never fully recovered my speech...as a bilingual speaker I can no longer roll my "r" s and my annunciation is off.

There are better things to pierce than your tongue and if it really means that much to you it will be worth the wait.

I think you have to be at least 16 or maybe even 18, otherwise the piercing is not allowed without an adult (that is parent)

Yes you will need a parents permission, i do not suggest it though, you have to be very careful with your tongue i have had friend's who got theirs done and the piercing had chipped their teeth, and even swollen there tongue causing eating problems etc.

If you do have it done make sure you go to a place that has the correct certificates on show if not asjk to see them check out a few places first. GOOD LUCK

Generally, with parent/legal guardian present you can get the piercing, however, you need to remember that the shop you go to does have the right to say they won't pierce you. I think you are too young and you might have to be at least 16 to get it done.

Call and ask beforehand about the age limits and restrictions they have and their policy on piercing minors

some places will do it with a parent, but any respectable shop will say no until you are at least 15 or 16. you aren't even done growing yet. finish growing, if you still want it fine. tongue piercings were cool in the nineties. not any more!

In Ohio, you have to be 18. Even if you have a parent with you who says it's okay, you still have to be 18.
