Cats like people can have a variety of body structures. I have three cats and they are all built completely different. The youngest is just over a year and weighs a little over six pounds. She is very small and thin. The middle cat is long and lean and he is probably about 10 pounds The oldest is your typical fat cat. She is about thirteen pounds and you'd swear she was pregnant if you didn't know she is spayed. They all see the vet regularly and are all very healthy. If your vet says she is okay then you should trust that.

If the vet says she's fine I wouldn't worry about it. Cats vary widely in size, just like people do. I have four adult cats that range in size from 6.5 pounds to 13 pounds. The littlest one looks like a kitten compared to the biggest one, but they're all normal and healthy.

I'm sure the Vet. knows. As for the kitten it all depends on the genes. Like people. We had 4 kittens from the same mother. They were different due to the possibility of different fathers. Yes the female could of mated several times with different cats. So you could have one cat from a large breed father and one from a smaller breed father all from the same mother. The mother cat we had was only 7lbs when she got pregnant. Her sons are now 14 lbs we kept two.

She could just be a small cat. My roommate used to have a female tabby and when she was full grown at over 5 years old and she only weighed 7 pounds. She was so light she felt like a toy when you picked her up.
On the other hand, my cat who is almost 3 is weighing in at 13 pounds now. I hope he doesn't get any bigger, he's not fat though, he is very muscular.

Many female cats are small-boned and therefore will tend to weigh less than their male counterparts. If she has a good appetite, is active, bright, alert and voiding normally, you shoudn't worry. My neighbor's 1 yr old spayed female weighs 7 lbs but is more active and acrobatic then her brother. She resembles a black sleek panther. Vet said she was healthy.
