its winter and the dorms are over heating and drying everything out. i have post nasal drip. i've recovering from a sore throat too, which probably could be connected to the post nasal drip. there is a slight pain in my neck/throat when i blow my nose. are these things connected? i've never been tested for allergies so could this be an allergy? should i just gargle with salt water and drink plenty of fluids?

get a humidifier and use it at night, it helps a lot. You can get a cheap one ($20) at Walgreens. I'm sure it's all related.

Allergies cause PND (post nasal drip) and PND can cause sore throats and bronchitis. Get tested and start immunotherapy. The throat pain is due to your throat irritation and noseblowing can aggravate it. The neck pain may be sore muscles. An OTC allergy med that contains loratidine and pseudoephedrine may help with allergy relief in general and with PND in particular. Go ahead and gargle and increase fluids but see an allergist.

i have major allergies, and a post nasal drip. so yes, i can say from experience that those will cause the sore throat, so will overly dry/hot air tho.

from personal experience salt water does nothing. drinking OJ always helped me with the sore throat. also try a halls defense suppliment drop. its kinda like a cough drop, but its vitamin C and they make you salavate so that helps with keeping your throat moist.

good luck. its a pain in the butt, i know.

Yes do that and consult a doctor pronto. Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html
