Talk to your local sheriff. There are programs that reclaim firearms for destruction. They could either tell you where to bring it, or take it themselves. Personally, for an air pistol, I would break it in half in a vice and throw it away if you wanted to dispose of it. If it is in working condition, you could probably unload it at a local gun dealer. In this instance you had better make sure you get a receipt for the transaction or any state papers required for the transaction in case the gun is ever used in a crime at a later date.

It could be worth a lot of money! People collect old BB guns and other air rifles. Lewis and Clark carried an air rifle along with their gunpowder rifles on their famous expedition. To just throw it away is a sin! Guns aren't evil and having one doesn't make you evil, either.

Airguns are basically childrens toys.
Throw it away if you're scared of a keepsake toy your father obviously cherished enough to hang onto.
Some people call such items "family heirlooms".
If it's older than 30 years old, and in good shape, chances are it would sell well on e-bay.
There are no laws regarding the disposition or sale of airguns.

Send it to me and I'll keep it in my gunsafe. Since he keld on to it that long it must have been special to him and I'd take care of it and maybe even use it for target practice.

hand it in at the local cop shop, these guns can still be used to scare people (who wouldn't know the difference) in robberies
