Why does my roommate talk to everyone else in the apartment like a buddy, but ignores me completely?

Question

I have never done ANYTHING to him that should bother him. I'm clean and quiet, and I try to remain civil with him, but he literally has been shunning me for months now. He will actually talk around me to someone else in the room, but not even answer a direct question from me.

your roommate might have some issue with you that you cant remember. try to have a conversation with him but only when the room is free of distractions. try to resolve it. if that doesn't work he's probably just too immature or rude to be around.

I've found that it's often a better situation if your roommates are NOT your friends, per se. A civil situation where you avoid contact is much better than one that has a chance of blowing up in your face (as is the case with many attempted friendships.) It could be that he appreciates your cleanness and quietness but doesn't think you're the type he'd normally hang out with, or he is in fact annoyed by you but is wisely trying to avoid friction.

I'm sort of in the same boat as you. My roommate and I are civil and things. We make small talk, like how was your day, etc. Nothing serious.

Just think he's a roommate, that it, he doesn't have to be a friend.

firstly u need to get a life. hes your room mate and doesnt have to be your friend. if he ignores u let him.
second, u may be too civil for him. which is kind of a funny thing because from my experiance men dont like civil friends. he might just want u to call him a bi%$#. hell love it.

because he is an abusive person. the best thing for you to do is to ignore him and move away from him asap. dont give him any credence because it will just edge at everything good in you. try to do your own thing and move away promptly.
