better defined as a martyr.

The word Martyr means a witness -and is often connected with someone killed for his beliefs. The sacrifice means to give up something in behalf of others. So Jesus was both (John 1:29, Rev 1:5)

He was the final sacrifice for the atonement of sin.

The secular people will say he was a martyr. But according to the Bible, he was not just a martyr. He was the lamb of God.

Email me for details.

I could talk all day about why Jesus had to die and stuff-- I taught a class about it.

Jesus was a sacrifice.

He was and is the only sacrifice for our sin. A martyr is one that is killed for his faith- but they did not know they were going to be given birth and then die for their faith. Jesus, on His own sacrificed himself for our sin- the perfect lamb of God. From long before man came to earth, Jesus knew at just the right time He would come to earth for the sole purpose of dying for me and for you.

SACRIFICE....

Isaiah 53:7
"He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth."
