Take good care of it, keep it clean and the mileage low.
Be smart in the first place. Look at resale values prior to buying. A Chevy will lose value way faster then Honda or Toyota.

If you only plan to keep your car a few years, then it's in your best interest to keep its resale value as high as possible -- after all, that's more money to put down on your next new car. These five tips will put your car well ahead of the pack and help to maximize its resale value.
1. Buy a car that will hold its value. Resale value is based on many factors, including desireability and reliability. Some makes, such as Toyota, Honda, Mercedes and Lexus, always hold their value well.
2. Follow the maintenance schedule and keep all receipts. You'll find the maintenance schedule in the back of the owner's manual. Keep receipts for all maintenance and repair work, no matter how minor.
3. Don't crash. Any history of collision damage can ding your car's resale value, and a trained used car appraiser can spot body work from a mile away. If your car is in a collision, use an experienced repair shop with a good reputation and insist on using factory (also known as OEM, for Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts. Save all receipts and be up front and honest about any collision repair work when it comes time to sell or trade.
4. Resist the urge to customize. Spending money on your car can actually decrease its value. If you do have your car customized, stick to non-intrusive upgrades such as new wheels or an upgraded stereo that won't require extensive re-wiring or cutting up the dashboard. Save the old parts so you have the option of returning your car to its original condition before selling.
AND THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THINK YOU CAN DO TO GET TOP DOLLAR...
5. Keep it clean. The better your car appears to be kept up, the more it will be worth, and most people associate cleanliness with care. Washing and waxing your car on a regular basis is a much easier way to keep it looking good than paying for an expensive detail job when the time comes to sell.

keep it clean and good condition from the git go.
or
get ahold of the following:
detail shop - over all cleaning
touch up paint company - fix all the chips and scratches
dent company - fix all the shopping cart dents
interior repair company - fix any cig burns, stains, leather cracking
the cleaner the car and the less the dealer or anyone has to do to it, the higher the resale value. miles affect this as well....low miles brings higher, high miles brings lower. but high miles with proven facts that it was all highway, can still bring a good price.

There isn't any way unless you sell it to a private buyer. If you go to a dealership they seldom give allowances for aftermarket parts you may have installed.
Unfortunately you know how it is.... they go by year, and what features the window sticker said it has.
You may be able to find an uneducated consumer in the Private-Seller world and they'll pay you more for any trinkets you may have installed.

Sometimes adding FACTORY accessories might help as well. Like if a car came with only a tape player, adding a CD would help a little.

a good detail job, a little known facts and some aftermarket goodies. although this only works with private buyers and not car lots.
