A Christian is a person who has been Baptized.

A fundamentalist is someone who takes the Scriptures as 100% literal.

Not all Christians are fundamentalists, but all fundamentalists are Christians (if they believe in the fundamental of Baptismal regeneration.)

Fundamentalists, are usually the ones who take the "no grace" approach with sinners. I personally do not believe that they follow the example of Christ. They are the first to condemn people for drinking, smoking, being gay etc...

Although I believe the act of homosexuallity is a sin that will kill you, I believe there is hope. I believe if Jesus were here today, he would eat and hang around with those who in the gay community. This in no way negates what the word says about those who practice these things.

Drinking is not a sin. Being a drunk is. Jesus provided the wine at the wedding in Cana. (John 2).

Smoking became a sin in the 60's when people became offended by the effects. I don't smoke, but smoking too much will kill you just as fast as eating too much.

A fundamentalist in any religion is a person who sticks to the fundamentals in whatever book their religion is and follow a literal reading of that book. They can also be classified as fundamentalists if they teach "get back to the old ways" types of beliefs.

The difference between them is about 8,000 churches. Serious....they loathe authority and shun it. All of the new (man-made) churches springing up these days are by fundies. If any one among them determines that they do not like the message of a particular church/minister, they simply up and leave -- and start their own church -- which, of course, becomes their own interpretation and their own tradition -- as much as they loathe the term tradition. That's exactly what it is.

Christians are Christ like in both their actions and word.

Christian Fundamentalists are less Christ like and more judgemental, hostile and just down right mean.

It may not be pretty but that's the simple straightforward truth of it.

Among Christians you may find some sincerely good people who live as Jesus taught.

Among fundies you will always find arrogant, intolerant, hateful people who think themselves better than all others.

The difference is wether or not you believe in the LITERAL interpretation of the bible.
