Bangkok would be better for clothes. Phuket gets Bangkok's leftover about a month or more later. And usually what is left is not as pretty.
Also, Bangkok is cheaper. Check out Suan Lum Night Bazaar and Chatuchak Weekend market for souvenirs and clothes and accessories. Also check out Mah Boon Krung (what the Thais call MBK) area where there are plenty of shopping malls with cheap clothes. It is near BTS station National Stadium. Bangkok - sure. It is the difference between buying wholesale and buying top end retail in Phuket.. where you go depends on what you want to buy.. some products are manufactured in different provinces and would be best purchased there..

depends, for personal use anywhere is about the same not really much diff in prices, if u want to take back to sell BKK is the place to be, see if it worth the trip back to get the cheap cheap, choke-dee

You do get more options in Bangkok.
