It all depends on what condition and mileage you want.

Book value is roughly $4,300. But the 2 liter's are not that highly sought after at all, so I'd say closer to $3,500. And it all depends what condition it is in.

in case you have a small fee variety you may desire to purchase a overall performance exhaust, ok&N air consumption, Iridium spark plugs, unload valve all of this might desire to upload approximately 40-60bhp to your VW in case you have a bigger economic company stability then you definately might desire to do all the above then upload a large rapid, overall performance intercooler, overall performance manifold, bigger brakes, activities supsension with 30mm drop, upload some 17inch 5-spoke racing alloys and then upload a overall performance seize. this might desire to make a large progression to your potential and supply you slightly extra exciting whilst driving

i would advise against buying one. if you want a mk3, get a VR6. theyre not much more expensive, and 100 times more fun, faster, and they are the best sounding 6 not made by porsche or TVR ive ever heard.
