just because a certain straightner is expensive doesnt mean its good
i use tourmaline and its about 60 and it works amazing

I have really stubborn wavy hair and I have to say that I've tried multiple flat irons and definitely, the CHI is the best! It's totally worth the price and occasionally, Ulta has them on sale for $109 - a very good deal!

The only one I found to work great without frying my hair is Helen of Troy. It is a professional product and I know you arent worried about the price but it was actually pretty reasonable. i think I paid like $60 or something and it comes with a lifetime guarentee. I have long, curly, thick hair and it works so great that I dont have to put any product in my hair, so it always looks natural and keeps my hair healthy. Good luck!
