I don't think it's genetically engineered. I was told by the produce manager that its simply injected with grape juice.

yeah, I had them about 2-3 years ago. To me, they smell like grapes, but still taste like apples.

Yes, it is simply an apple that is grape scented when you eat it...don't think it is worth the expense. Just bought it once to check it out.

Check the packaging again...the ones I've seen are actually just Fuji apples that have been scented...Hey, it was marketed well enough for me to fall for it and buy them.
I didn't notice a differant taste...

I tried one once. It tasted like an apple coated in perfume and was mushy. Not a fan, especially at that price.

wow! $6.00 each! we tried them once,when they frist came out. they were like 4 for $4.00 then. maybe that's why i have not seen them at the grocery. they really have gone up. they taste great, but not that great that i'd pay that much
