I Love L.A!

Best City in the US! Beaches, Theme Parks, Clubs, LAKERS!, Hollywood, their famous Police Force LAPD. It has everything!

ANYONE AGREE?

San Diego is BEAUTIFUL, but it is not the best big city in So Cal, L.A is famous and has everything you can ask for, San Diego...ummm, Sea World is good i guess..lol

L.A might not have a football team, but we have 2 basketball teams! 2 BASKETBALL TEAMS!

San Diego...0

As far as my definition of best, L.A has everything and that is why you see people from all over the world visiting L.A to go to places like Disneyland, Six Flags, Clubs, Hollywood, beaches, Beverly Hills, City Walk..the list goes on and on. As far as more attractions and popularity around the World, L.A is the the best city in Souther Cali.

I don't know what's your definition of best, yea it's beautiful, but that to me doesn't mean it's the best.

Never cared for LA when I was there. People are all fake. Give me the midwest and east coast every time.

I totally agree. Most of the above posters are out-of-state transplants with very little or no knowledge of this city. These are the only "fake" people you'll find in LA. They come to live here for some reason and later end up whining about the city's problems. Real LA natives stick by their city in good times and bad. Remember Los Angeles is a city whose government makes less than ten percent of the budget of the government of New York City and as the Yahoo! introduction said, it is a "young" city, and that is something one has to think about when they complain about its infrastructure. As a native, I find it annoying when alot of signs are now being posted telling everyone which direction is Sunset Boulevard or which way is Hollywood where I had not seen them 10 or 20 years ago and when I have to honk the horn to get people to go when the green arrow is lighted. Isn't that enough to convince me that more people are moving here? It's really sad when these same people who had been here for only five years, dare have the guts to say that "people in LA are fake." Los Angeles was a great city that had seen its heydey, and that was 20 years ago or more and at that time when more "real" Angelenos were living in LA than right now and New York was bankrupt and people then were complaining of its problems that they tend to call it "The Jungle." Funny but also sad, isn't it now that the tables have turned. However, Angelenos have a trait that they ought to be proud of, even though they don't admit it: They lack the arrogance and insecure feelings that New Yorkers possess and they don't boast as much to the world about how great their city is (why should they?), and best of all, NO RATS. LA doesn't need a Donald Trump an Empire State Building or a Times Square to be a great city. It's the laid back beach culture and the weather that makes it great. LA has been the center for aeronautics and science, which is why we have the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Caltech as well as the Griffith Observatory. The internet and the Space Shuttle were developed here, by UCLA and (the now defunct) Rockwell International--in its El Segundo facility, respectively, and we also have 4 great universities USC, UCLA, Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine. Furthermore, two of the city's local high schools have won national academic decathalons in 6 in the past 20 years. We also have one of the world's largest shipping ports which serves as the hub to Pacific Rim countries. So anyone who thinks that LA people lack intelligence should go find a beach here to bury their head in the sand. Just as I listen to that famous song by Randy Newman, I also think about how proud I am to be a citizen of a poor and blue-collar but world-class city like Los Angeles.

Though being a Midwesterner, I'd take Chicago over it, I also love L.A. It's a great city, full of diverse and fascinating people.

... And I beg to differ with the person who wants to rank San Diego above Los Angeles. There's no real city in San Diego. People joke that L.A. is a hundred suburbs in search of a city, but anyone who's been there knows that's not true. It IS true in San Diego, though. There's not much of a sense of city at all. You couldn't pay me to live there.

For me, I'll choose New York over LA anytime. I'm living in Asia. But I've lived (& studied) in Los Angeles for a year then transferred to the Valley and lived there for another year. I gotta say I didn't like living in LA, a lot of people are superficial. But I gotta say there are so many beautiful people there and it's very diverse. But I found myself always being cautious, crime rates are alarmingly high. So I transferred to a residential area in the Valley and loved it, less than 10 minutes away from LA, very quiet and still close to amusement parks, malls, and beaches. But owning a car is a necessity.

New York City on the other hand is my favorite because I'm a theatre junkie. And I love that I can walk in Times Square and Theatre district on midnight and not get mugged or get hit by drive-by shooting. And almost everyone can get by without car. They walk to their offices or take subways. And they're very nice to visitors too. And the food, yum. I wish I live there. Everything is so accessible there. A short subway ride to Columbia or NYU, Macy's, Theatre district, downtown, museum mile, shopping district.....

But I'll miss Hollywood. I used to usher on Universal Ampitheatre during movie premieres and concerts. Are you an Angelino?

You are sorely mistaken...San Diego is the best big city, period, in SoCal...P.S. You're the second largest city in the USA, and you have no NFL football team? That tells you something about big business' desire to re-enter such a poor market in L.A. And lastly, for the past two years, the Clippers have had a better record than your overrated Lakers.

YES! I have lived all over So. & Northern California, Arizona and Texas. Nowhere compares to L.A. There are a million things to do...you can go to the beach one day and skiing the next. There is so much opportunity and diversity here. Yes, the houses are a little overpriced but you get what you pay for. L.A. is the best.

TEXAS SUCKED THE BIG ONE!

LA is the best place to live in ever! Year-round sunshine, no devastating natural disasters, nice people, laid-back. I'm proud to call it my home and my native land!
