My husband loves to golf, but I really dont like to. I am just curious why most men love the game, and if there are any other women out there that feel the same as me. I really want to try to like the game, but I have played it and it just isnt my thing, I feel that there are betters ways to spend my time and money other than walking around a golf course and chasing a tiny little ball around.

Ok - let me clarify something. I dont want to tag along with my husband on the guys golf outings, he wants me to go and learn how to play. I would much rather spend the day working on stuff at home while he isnt there to bother me :-)

Also, I would never try to stop my husband from playing. I encourage him to go out and play a round of golf, just like he would never try and stop me from doing my paintings or jewelry making. Its these things that make us all unique and individual people.

I think it's like a mini vacation for them. For example I like to ride my bike, you get out doors, don't have any responsibilities for the time, can let your mind wander. With golf, it's more social, but your away from the daily grind, the pressures, and just relaxing. I think it's a good thing for them. Chances are they come home in a better mood and more receptive to your wants and needs because they have had a chance to unwind and meet some of their own needs. Also, golf is very healthy physically. The heart rate goes up, more than normal for an extended period, and this is good, just as walking itself is very good and healthy exercise.

Why do women love to shop? Could it be because we gather joy from it or find peace in it? Don't we all love something? I think it's more that you don't try to stop someone you love from doing what "they" love but support them in it. It doesn't mean you have to play. But you also don't stop him from playing. I'm not a golfer, but I do enjoy wandering the beautiful courses for exercise and the companionship is great too. You each enjoy it in your own way. I go with friends now and then.

Many reasons - haha to get away from following women around when they are shopping, ego trip when u bash that ball a mile or boast of your not-so-great score, and what other sport do u get to carry 14 clubs and tons of other equipment and gadgets in order to play it?? :)

I hate golf. I agree, it's a pretty stupid game. The only times I've golfed were (a) with my dad and (b) with my then-soon-to-be father-in-law shortly prior to my wedding to his daughter. So really, only under social obligation will I find myself on a golf course. I don't know why other men like it.
