He said he had only been intimate with her once but they are still in contact with each other and he wants to remain friends. I would be interested in someones thoughts as to how I should handle this.

you know what.. i think you should part with him until' he's over her.. cause for him to call you his last girlfriend's name is messed up.. break it off with him cause he still likes her and if they spend too much time together you know what might happen. let him get over her.. or say f*ck it and find someone else.. up to you.. good luck.

Mistakes happen, I am sure he did not mean to say it and was not trying to hurt you. He probably felt like crap after it slipped out. I have said ex's name when I am arguing with my new partner. I don't think it means anything and I would try not to worry. The remaining friends with someone he slept with is hard to deal with but learning to trust him will help, believe me I know. My boyfriend does not want me talking to guys I have slept with, not one of them, but he still sees one of his ex's once or so a year and that bothers me, partly because of my past I have learned to be jealous and insecure, the other reason is that he does not like it or want me doing it so he should understand how I feel and not do the thing he is telling me not to do. I hope you don't let this eat away at you because not only will it destroy you but it will eventually destroy your relationship with him, I wish you all the luck in the world.

Trust me i have experience in this area, they arent just friends or he still has feelings for her either way you get screwed. i think you should talk to him about it even it is akward ask him what the hell was up with calling you her name cause that is pretty ****** up. Its been done to me. I have also been the one doing it. And ive been the girl that her name was said soo trust me. something isnt right and you deserve to know what is up before you get hurt. this is just my opinion you can do whatever you want but i just give you my input

You don't say how old you are.

Chances are, if he had only done this with 1 other girl it was just a slip caused by nerves. I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again.

I'm 26 yrs old and Im friends with all of my exes. I dont see a problem with it. BUT I DO SEE A HUGE PROBLEM WITH HIM CALLING YOU HIS EX'S NAME! Thats a NO NO. However, if it was just one time, Id let it slide. But if it happens again... There is a problem.

I'd think that if he used his ex girlfriends name, it was because he was thinking of her, while cuddling with you. Maybe he's not completely over her yet. If he's not, then he's probably just in a relationship with you ,to help himself get over her, which isnt fair to anyone.

OOOps
How long was he going with her before you.
It could be an honest mistake.
People do sometimes get names wrong.

Aw, this is no big deal. It actually might mean that he's trying so hard that he can't keep his thoughts in order. I bet it's nothing.

DID YOU CORRECT HIM?
I WOULD LET HIM KNOW IT HURT YOU.AND I WOULD ASK IF HE STILL HAD FEELINGS FOR HER.YOU DON'T WANT TO FALL IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE WHO IS ALREADY IN LOVE!
OR WHO HAS FEELINGS FOR SOMEONE ELSE.
