You misspelled "short", but I don't see how this verse could be misinterpreted. All of humanity has a sin nature. Arminians will tell you that we still have the ability to choose God, but Calvinism shuts it completely down and says no, God must choose us because of what this verse says about who we are. We are dead in our sins, and this means no life at all, not even a spark of ability in us to choose Him. This allows predestination to be taken at face value, since God must make the choice for us, not the other way around, and he can make that choice whenever he wants, i.e. before the foundations of the world. Arminianism must reinterpret this to say "for the most part, all have sinned and fall short...", and this leads to God wanting and hoping and wishing for our salvation rather than Calvin's sovereign God who makes the call on whether we are saved or not.

Well "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" means that none of us, not a single one, that has/is/or will live is as perfect as God and that God owes us nothing, it's all a gift.

At Romans 5:12 it says that because of Adam's sin, death and sin entered to all.
So as imperfect humans, we are born with sin. Therefore not perfect. But it is possible for us to gain God's glory.
We have to follow his commandments and do his will. And Jesus made is possible through his ransom sacrifice for our sins to be blotted out and forgiven by God. Also in Romans 5:13-21 it shows how through Jesus it's possible.
So we are born sinners, but we do not have to continue to sin willfully. We can do God's will, and when we do sin, we can be assured that they can be forgiven all because of Jesus and God's selflessness!
Hope this helped!

We all sin, and our sin deserves death in light of God's Holiness. We can not stand in front of God with our sins. The only way that we can stand righteous before God is by faith in Jesus Christ. Only Christ's shed blood on the Cross cleanses us, and enables us to stand before God. God has high standards, and without Christ's forgiveness for our sins, there is no way for us to stand before him.

God is perfect, and because of our sin, we cannot approach Him as His glory deserves.
the effects of that include separation from God and spiritual death after physical death. that's the purpose of the sacrifice of Christ.
