Looking for a Natural Remedy for Water Retention. I am healthy and in shape and drink lot's of H20! I also watch my sodium intake carefully. But every week out of the month I retain water very badly. Don't recommend seeing DR-he knows and says tough it out. Looking for a natural "secret" to rid my body of this excess water. Thanks!

Cornsilk and Dandelion are both herbal diuretics.

I have more info on Dandelion.
*you can make it into a tea
*one of the best blood purifiers and builders available (high in iron)
*high in vitamins and minerals, especially calcium
*contains all the nutritive salts for the blood. It resyores and balances the blood so anemia that is caused by deficiencies of these blood salts disappears
*Overweight people when losing weight can become over acidic.
These acids in the blood are destroyed by dandelion.
*liver cleanser
*good for the female organs
*used to great skin diseases
*helps open urinary passages

1) Lemon and hot water helps
2) Drink a minimum 8 glasses of water a day
3) Consider a whole foods diet. Focus on whole grains and watery vegetables. Increase you intake of raw food. A high fiber diet is important.
4) Avoid foods that tend to worsen water rentention like caffeine, alcohol, salt, fried foods, dairy products, animal protein, gravies, white sugar, white flour, chocolate, olives, pickles, tobacco, soy sauce ect.
5) Exercising helps pump out water and other fluids that accumulate in legs and ankles; however, exercising in water gives better results because the water pressure forces fluid out of tissues and into the bladder. Nevertheless, flexing or eleventing your legs while sitting is good if your movement is limited.
6) You can take up to 200 mg. of B6 daily to help reduce premenstrual water retention. A calcium supplement may provide relief from premenstrual water retention as well.
7) Avoid constricting clothing, footwear and hosiery.
8) Maintain proper body weight. Overweight people have more of a chance of retaining water. They are also more likely to be affected by heat and humidity, which can aggravate swelling.

several natural things u can do

if the water retention is in your legs Dr told me lay on the floor and to put leg against wall upright for and hour. water retention above the heart drains easier this way.

I also prop my legs up on pillows when i sleep

if u have an exercise ball u can lie on the floor and use this to prop up your legs as well.

Dr recommended i drink a green tea every day to help with digestion as well.

its supposed to promote better circulation and in turn better distribution of water in your body.

my water increases and decreases monthly too i suffer from edema and am on a special low salt diet and water pill to help control this problem.

i do notice that i have a high water weight and a low water weight. this fluctuates between 20 pounds

good luck!!!

In Mexico we brew corn silk tea, from those long dark brown filaments that grow on the ears of corn. That is one hell of a diuretic.

Heat some water, when it is boiling add the corn silk and turn off heat. Cover and let it simmer for about ten minutes. It does not taste great but it will help.

Nope, a water pill but its not natural. You might want to go to the health food store. I would say drink more water, it sounds silly but you need to flush your system. Also you might want to juice, detox your body with fresh juices, and no salt.

I had heard that you can get dandelion root pills at health stores, but you should be careful taking substances that are made to dehydrate you.
