Note: I have a doctor's appointment for next week, the earliest I could get in. Do NOT say, "Just go to your doctor and find out."

After skipping both December and January's periods, I took a HPT and was given a positive. We figured that we concieved in mid-December, mainly because I had some nasty morning sickness starting in mid-January. I have been extremely nausated for the past 2 weeks.

Today as I went to the bathroom, I wiped and there was a strand of bloody mucas. No cramping, no vomiting, just one gooey strand of maroon colored blood. I have put on a pad (unhappily, I might add) and so far there's nothing else.

Break-through bleeding and miscarriage or "common" in pregnancy?

If you are miscarrying, you will experience serious "cramping" and a lot more bleeding. Almost like your period. If the bleeding has stopped, it may be normal, however, just check with the doc at your appt next week. YOU will know if you are miscarrying, you will feel it, see it, and it should be very evident. Your body will do what it takes to expel it. It won't be just spotting, or simple bleeding, it will be continual for several days possibly. I WISH YOU THE BEST IF THIS PREGANCY IS WHAT YOU WANT.. If it is not meant to be however, you have to try and understand that your body "knows" there is something wrong with the baby, and it is doing "it's job". As bad as that sounds, it is life. Again, miscarriage is not easy, it is a loss, and you deserve to have your time to grieve, but hopefully, if you want a child, you will be blessed again, at a better time, a better situation, a healthy baby.

I went through this same thing with my last child. I had to spend 4 months in bed, constantly bleeding and spotting. My baby Girl was born 2 months early and is now 21 years old. First of all, get OFF your feet. Keep your legs elevated. The maroon colored Blood is Old Blood. Its the bright red that is really scarey. When you called your doctors office did you tell them you are spotting? If so, they are Nutz for not having you come on in.. Just be very careful until you get to see the doctor. Do not vacumn or do anything strenious.. I pray all will work out for you..

I had this happen with both of my pregnancies that went to full term. I've also had three miscarriages in between my son and daughter. The only way I can describe the difference is with the miscarriages they felt like a period (cramping) and I bled like a period (low flow and then heavier). I don't think you're having a miscarriage, but if you can take it easy, stay off your feet and try not to get stressed or worried, it can certainly help until you go to the doctor. If you start to run a fever or have pain call your doctor again--I'm sure he'd want to see you right away. Also, you may want to consider getting a different doctor. He/She doesn't seem to be taking this seriously. My doctor always had me come in right away (just a thought). Take it easy, try not to worry. Good Luck!

I've had bleeding in all 3 of my pregnancies--the middle one ended in miscarriage. It was just as scary each time it happened.

My spotting during my first pregnancy was only for about a day, and only when wiping.

My bleeding (at six weeks) during my second was so heavy I knew it couldn't be anything other than a miscarriage.

During my 3rd pregnancy I had 9 days of dark brown spotting with periodic bright red blood at about 6 weeks pregnant.

Let me tell you something I am 10 weeks pregnant and when I was 7 weeks I was bleeding I lost my mind I was so scared and in stock that I left my house with the same bloody underwear and went to the hospital. Thank God everything was O.K. but even if you are bleeding or were you need to go to the hospital to make sure. Good Luck with everything.

If you dont have more bleeding or cramping you are probably fine. a lot of people have a little spotting at the beginning of their pregnancy. if you bleed through your pad then you should start worrying.

morning sickness is usually a good sign that things are o.k.!

bleeding is not common in pregnancy, but it doesn't mean that anything is wrong. if you were miscarrying you would have very bad cramping also. i don't think that you should worry. however, you might want to take a trip to the ER just to find out.

Many women spot during pregnancy. I would not worry unless you start bleesing heavy and get cramps.
