I wear make up (moderately) and simple jewelry. I am a Christian and have been for almost 17yrs.

As far as the "pants" issue is concerned, I've brought this before the Lord myself as a private matter, and I suggest each woman make it a matter of prayer. Believe me, I've run the "gamut" of churches and I know what THEY all say. But what does GOD say to US?

No matter WHAT, we are to be MODEST in our appearance, of that I am FULLY persuaded!

To be honest that is not a Christian Lifestyle, its legalism. They get those "laws" from exatly that; The Law of Moses, which was given to the Israelites by God along with the 10 commandments at Mount Sinai. The focused on the outside appearance, what you did justified you according to the law.

Now in the new pact or promise with God and his people, we are not bound to the law of the letter but now the law of the Spirit. And Paul in one of his letters speaks that women should dress modestly, but he does not say you cant wear this, this, and this. He also says that "everything is permissible, but not everything is benificial." It is nice to see a girl dress respectively and not like a hoochie-mama Christian or not, but God doesnt look for our outside appearances, He looks at our hearts.

There is a time in the book of Matthew I believe when Jesus speaks to the pharasis (dont know if I spelled that right) about how they love to pray in public and sit in the best seats and give the biggest offerings so that everyone could see them. And another time where he compares them to a cup that is clean on the outside but on the inside is dirty. I wish I had the exact verses but Im at work : P, sorry, but basically they all focused on the outside appearance while their hearts were messier then my brother's room.

So in a nutshell, women can wear pants, jewelery and make-up because what you wear does not make you who you are and does not save you, you are saved by the grace of God, and you are a Christian because you let Christ live through you. Amen.

P.S. I know you didnt ask about being saved but I just threw that in there since most of the time they (the legalists groups) send you to hell when it comes to these kinds of things. They are still our brother's and sister's, they're just living in the wrong promise thats all.

Yes , I do , providing they can afford proper clothing, and if they could not, to try to find them some. Not everyone is convicted of same thing at the same time, so unless the Holy Spirit is convicting them on it, there is no sense in anyone trying to convict them in a human way. Only the Holy Spirit can transform a person, and that person, has to be willing, ready, and being silent to be guided by the Holy Spirit.

Christ is the end of the law: Romans 10:4. So a Christ-ian lifestyle would not include such legalism.

No. I think a skirt or dress is appropriate for church, but the rest of the time, a girl should be able to wear whatever is culturally acceptable for her employment, transportation, or daily activities.

-for seven years my only transportation was a motorcycle - I couldn't wear a skirt on that, or I'd be flashing my underwear to everybody, not to meantion risking serious road-rash if I fell.

No I do not agree with that.

I think I know what scripture you speak of when referring to this, but that scripture was talking about 'extensive' caring of the hair and adorning oneself with gold and lavish jewelry.

But that scripture was talking about putting those things before God. I you took all your time to look good, and set aside no time to pray and grow a relationship with your heavenly father, then yes, this would be displeasing to God.

No, I agree that women should have a job, wear pants, cut their hair, wear anything to their heart's content. Women are equal, and human. They have rights. people still have their stereotypes about them though.

I dont, but the Bible sure does... They also should stop teaching in schools as well. Women have no business teaching anything - according to Christianity, not me....
