Nothing. We lost prestige in the eyes of the world. We destabalized an entire region. We get no oil revenues nor even easier access to the oil. And it cost us billions, perhaps trillions of dollars and thousands of US lives, not mention tens of thousand Iraqi lives.

Now the question to ask is...Who did benefit from the Iraq war? Look into the profit margins of companies that contracted to rebuild the infrastructure of Iraq. Look for certain individuals who made lots of money, or were paid lots of money with no oversight and little demand that they actually deliver any product or services. And see if these companies and individuals aren't in someway connect to our current administration.

The only gain has been to the rich that control the United States, the idea of the Neocons is to for the United States to dominate the world with military bases all throughout the world. Little do they know that those in the Middle East would fight the Americans and their philosophy has cost America the respect of the rest of the world.

The country up until the last 6 years was a country that was well respected around the world. We now find the United States hated throughout the world and as every Empire builder before they will fall from grace for their greed and in this case it is Blood Oil.

The price of oil is more stable now that Saddam can't play with the market under the Oil for Food program. And defense and oil industry stocks went up. Those are the benefits.

The benefits are FAR outweighed by the terrible costs. And, note the benefits only accrue to the most wealthy.

We don't have to worry about Saddam Hussein anymore. We don't have to worry about going back because he defies all the UN Resolutions given to him. We don't have to worry about him torturing his people anymore. We also have an ally in the war on terror based right in the center of the Middle East.
