Clouds are part of the water cycle. They represent water accumulated in the atmosphere that returns to earth in the form of precipitation (rain, snow, sleet).

There is no 'purpose' to clouds. They are part of the natural working of the planet. Clouds consist of water vapour, if there were no clouds,there would be no precipitation, (rain hail snow).

Moisture rises over the earths seas and oceans where hot and cold climates combine, this is when clouds are formed and they carry the moisture in them. The next bit is easy.

Clouds are there so the water keeps moving. It is not really a use to us humans, but mainly vegetation. They need water from somewhere.
