If yo are not a local, it is a good place to be a street person if you like to be mugged. If you have the money for a ticket to Hawaii, it would be best spent digging yourdself out of the mess you are in. Just my advice.

Nope. While the unemployment rate is the lowest in the US, most jobs are entry level and many are part-time, without benefits. You'd have to work several jobs just to make a go of it. Apartments are in short supply and are very pricey. Don't even think about buying a place. The median price for a condominium was $305K and the median price for a home on Oahu was $640K in the 2nd Qtr of 2006..

The weather and scenery are much better than most of the US and you'd save a lot because you don't need heat during the winter, but because EVERYTHING has to be transported in ships (no trains or trucks), everything is VERY expensive.

So, lets sum up. High rent, expensive goods, great weather, beautiful scenery, surfing and low pay. Hmmm. You're probably better off where you are. Really.

Apartments are pretty expensive there. You would have to have housemates or roommates in order to get a cheaper rent. Otherwise, you would have to spend at least $700/mth or more on an apartment. There aren't as many jobs there as some other states. But it has great weather all year round, great views and nature. It's kind of like a tourist resort or place as you can see many tourists there from other states and from Japan.

No, it is not. Oahu is quite expensive and the average rent for a studio is anywhere in the neighborhood of $700 and up, with 1 bedrooms going for $1200 and more. The average pay is about $7.00 and hour and honestly, if you don't have a lot of money to begin with, you really do not want to start fresh here.

Absolutely NOT!!!!! There are some areas of the Hawaiian welfare system that may seem appealing. You will be frowned on by one and all. The down and out already there don't want you. The native Hawaiians certainly don't want you. It is a loose loose situation.

No way. It is hard enough living there money wise if you have a decent job...jobs are hard to find too. I am originally from there and there is no way for me to move back. Cost of living is way too high now.
