I have a first date this Saturday with a man I've been talking to for a couple of months. We talk over the internet, through text, and on the phone. Sometimes when we talk on the phone, I'm too shy to call him (mainly because of the above question), so I text him saying he should call me if he gets bored. He doesn't call me if I don't do something like that first - I know it's not because he's not interested, he wouldn't have asked me out if he wasn't. I think it's because the last girl he dated flipped out on him for calling her once or twice, and maybe now he's a bit shy. This is by no means a serious relationship, so how do I bring this up to him? Or do I just wait, not contact him, and see what happens like a couple of my friends are telling me to do? (this seems a bit harsh to me if he is in fact being a tad shy about calling me, so...)

I'd emphasize to him how much you enjoy talking on the phone and make him feel more comfortable with it. And, try calling him, it's not that bad *( : that will show him you really do like talking on the phone too

I'm shy and always enjoy knowing when a good time to call is if it's just to shoot the breeze. I'll call first if it's something urgent or important that I need to know though. Just tell him outright you'd like him to call more often without you needing to hint at it. no sense in beating around the bush about it especially if it's not serious yet. Just be honest and tell him. he'll either start calling more or more than likely it'll still be the same sort of thing, but at least you did your part.

Just say, "You know, you can call me without texting you first.. I won't get angry.. In fact, would kinda appreciate it.." Be straightforward with him and let him know that you are NOT his ex girlfriend and that if he wants to start a relationship with you, he can't treat you like you are his ex..

don't make excuses for him.don't see him as you want him to be but as he is.he isn't that communicative so either accept that or not.people are who they are and they usually show you early just what they are about but one must see the real and not the image.
