Ok - can anyone suggest something fairly quick to make but also very tasty with the few boring ingredients I've got in my cupboard? Trying NOT to just eat a boring pasta and sauce again. Need to make a tasty meal for 2 and all I've got is -
mushrooms
onions
4 sausages
4 eggs
tuna
dried pasta
cheese
rice
tinned tuna
garlic bread
Any ideas????!!

Okay, I'll give this a shot. (this, by the way is my 1st time to ever answer.

Drop either bread, pasta or rice. Choose one. (too many starches).......let me think. Let's work with the sausage.

Take it out and fry it up in a skillet. No oil. (it will have it's own)

Be sure to drain it very good.

Now, let's put that back on the stove on low heat and dice up the onion, mushrooms and cheese. Add the onion, and mushrooms. Let them cook IN the sausage.

Take the eggs and crack up about 6 if you have that many. Add those to your skillet now. Stir stir stir.

Smell good?

Okay,, let me look.........OH, okay.........boil your rice.

Drain your rice. (put salt in it)

Heat up your bread. (going against what I said earlier) lol

Mix up the rice and your skillet mix and top it with some cheese.

YUM..............

What I would do is take a pie type dish about 2 inches high. Butter the bottom and slice garlic bread into 1 inch rounds and cover bottom of casserole with bread. Slice sausages in 1/2 rounds and cover bread. Saute onions and mushrooms and lay those on top of sausage. Then cover entire top with the cheese. Add a little milk or water to eggs, whip them up and carefully pour over entire casserole, pushing it into dish if needed. Bake at 350 until top puffs and is golden. Almost like a fritatta. Cindy

I'd definitely do the mushroom and spinach tacos and add refried beans if you have that. I don't know what kind of beans you have but beans and rice are always good. Cook the beens iwth the habaneros and basil. Serve the boiled corn on the cob on the side. You could lightly steam the bok choy and serve a salad of black beans, corn (slice it off the cob), broccoli, and mint. Use a bit of olive oil and vinegar to make a dressing for the salad or a creamy vegetarian salad dressing. Not knowing exactly what else you have in the house, that's about all I can come up with.

Make a sausage fried rice. Cook up the eggs (scrambled) and then set aside, then dice onions, sausage, and mushrooms, and cook until tender, then add (cooked rice) and stir fry..if you have soy sauce/ketchup add that in..put on plate..voila. If you have green onions to top that'd be good (it adds nice color). But given your recipes..i know you dont want to do a pasta..but you could make a real nice pasta more than anything...or a pasta sauce on top of rice.

Try egg fried rice with the onion, mushroom and sausage. Serve with the garlic bread (you could grate some cheese over the bread?) - Simple and tasty - Bon Apetit!

You can make tuna with mushrooms.
saute the mushrooms with chopped onion one of the sausages, add salt and pepper and dried or fresh parsley if you have and serve with grilled or baked tuna spiced with salt and pepper.

You can also make some plain rice to go with the dish and make it more complete. You can saute the raw rice in a little oil with chopped garlic and the add hot water to it to keep cooking until done. or simply boil it as usual.
some extra ideas for the mushrooms if you have cream, you can add to the preparation too.

I think the garlic bread would go perfect with this kind of dish.

You can also make small bruschettas like this
cut the bread in slices, toast them and then put on them any mixture of tinned tuna with boiled eggs (you can add a little bit of oil and lemmon juice to make it softer or maionesse if you have, or just make home made maionesse) , you can use the mushrooms with onions and sausage saute i just told you about and put on top of the tuna.

u can cook up some of the pasta and make sure its like 75% or even 50% cooked...i'd go for 75%...
you put it in a pan and probably mix in some tinned tuna (mash it up and make it less chunky), chop up onions and give them a little stir in the frying pan and mix in too. addin in sliced mushrooms and mix in too. mix in cheese, and put the whole mixture in a oven pan (those glass ones...) and put cheese over is...add in seasonings. poke holes with a toothpick on the sausages and lay on top of the whole thing (might want to give the sausages a precook run first...)...put into oven to bake till its all good and serve with garlic bread as a side dish...this is making me hungry!
this isn't pasta and sauce...again...but pasta with a baked twist!
