I'm looking to test a theory on how a particular system for betting NFL games would work, and want to see how it would have worked through the years. Anyone know of a source of what the final Vegas point spreads and over/under lines were for NFL games going back to about 1960, other than looking up back issues of newspapers?

The Gold Sheet is probably the best source, but they only go back to 1993. This is probably useful, however, as you generally don't want to go too far in the past to test your model. The game changes over the years and you don't want to reject your model because it didn't hold up in 1967. However, depending on your inputs it may provide some useful information.
Another caveat: successfully betting sports requires getting the best price possible almost as much as finding the right side. I don't know exactly how the Gold Sheet gets the line that they list, but depending on when you bet you may have found a better or worse line.
