Last fall, I want to say september or october, I had pink hair, and dyed it back to black, which is my natural color. Once a month, since then the color has faded to show off that pink, I have redyed it. Will it keep doing that, or do I just have to cut out the pink and start anew?

You need to "fill" your hair. A filler is a color in between. Like when I go from blonde to brown I have to first go to red and then brown. Your hair is damaged and it is harder for the color pigments to grab. If you were pink then that means you are daring and not afraid to try things. Why don't you buzz it off and start over? People are already used to you being a person that will shock them, this would just reinforce your brave image with them! My policy is, it is only hair don't be afraid to experiement!

Do-it-yourself color on damaged hair rarely lasts longer than a month or so, depending, of course, on your hair texture and how often you wash it. It's not quite the same as your pink treatment, where you hair itself was actually bleached. You could try a different dye or go to a salon, but in the end the only truly permanent solution would be to let it grow out and trim off the pink.

You need to fill your hair and then colour it black. A filler is a hair colour with lots of protein. You need to get this done at a salon. You MUST fill your hair whenever you are going two shades or more dark.

The dyed part will disappear as your hair grows...new growth will be your original color

what you'll want to do is get some intensive conditioner and some vitamin treatments for your hair. it's probably damaged. also, make sure you are using permanent dyes, rather than semi-permanent colours.
