Suppose that the voltage measured on a voltmeter is 15V. The calculated value of the voltage was 14.2 V. Compare the % error for this laboratory experiment.

% error=(1-((Actual value)/(Theoretical value)))*100

AV=14.2
TV= 15

So the error is 5.33%

It's very much understandable. There's energy dissipation through the wires, and the wires themselves have resistance.

Error is usually defined as the sum of the correct value minus the experimental value divided by the correct value and multiplied by 100%. Or... Err%=(Actual-Measured)/Actual*100%.

In your case:
Err%=(15-14.2)/15=5.33%
