Is this an occasional thing?
Do the settings drop out at all?
Sometimes, Outgoing mail will just stop in my Outlooki 2003, and the only solution is to just recompose the emails, and send them.
Just an alternative possibility.

You need to have access to/configure an SMTP server. If you only pick up email from a Hotmail, or similar, address, then you probably won't have access to one.

Google "smtp server windows" to find a personal one that you can install locally to send your email.

you keep your default SMTP server. I mean in case of gmail the SMTP suggested by them is not working some times.. so you keep default setting and also check if every check marks are checked or not for security like authentication and etc.. best luck

"coldconfe..." is correct. The problem is in not having the correct settings as provided by your ISP.

You should contact them for support. None of us here can provide that info.
