Yes it is a lot better and you can use tabbed browsing... IE7 has tabbed browsing but its very slow and Firefox is a lot safer because it doesnt support active x controls. I only use IE when I'm downloading huge files because its faster when it comes to that... (over 500MB)... like Linux iso's

The United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team suggest that you not use IE:
"There are a number of significant vulnerabilities in technologies related to the IE domain/zone...It is possible to reduce exposure to these vulnerabilities by using a different web browser"
http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/713878
IE uses Active X, and this can be extremely insecure. Here what Microsoft had to say about their own browser:
"An ActiveX control can be an extremely insecure way to provide a feature...From the moment a user downloads an ActiveX control, the control may be vulnerable to attack"
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/workshop/components/activex/security.asp
Just keep in mind that no browser is 100% secure; just use the one with the best security record, that will be any browser but IE

Mozilla ranks #1 with Opera as a close second, but IE7 comes in 5th.

Yes, Firefox (2.0 out now) and Netscape (version 8 out now) are much better than IE... More security leaks with IE!

Firefox is far superior to IE in so many ways. I've been using it exclusively for quite a while and I will never switch back. Never I tell you, NEVER.....

Yes. So is Opera. So is Safari, and Konqueror, and Epiphany. And Mozilla.
