You need to start with a dogfood with the least amount of ingredients as possible. 2 good choices are made by Wellness. They are in the Simple Solutions line, made specifically for dogs with food allergies. My dobie is allergic to corn, soy, wheat, poultry and beef (probably more things, but that's what I know for sure). I have her on the Wellness Simple Solutions Venison Formula. It only contains one source of protein and one source of carbohydrates along with vitamins and minerals. She's been on it for a little over a year now and is doing great. The treats she eats are also made by the same company. You can check them out online at

Usually corn, soy, or wheat is excluded from the diet. Most dog foods are high in corn, this is usually what dogs are allergic to. Just keep using the dog food that he is on as his only source of food. But ask the vet which dog treats that you should stay away from, since again they use corn as a filler in dog treats.

Probably a dog food with no wheat, corn or soy. Avoid table food in general and ask your vet what brand of dog food he recommends.

Look for a grainless kibble as grains are one of the most common allergens in food. Also look for kibble with no beet pulp, added fats(oils are ok),sugars or food colorings.RAW/BARF diets are species appropriate and serve most dogs with food allergies very well. Good luck!

My Westie was put on this type of diet, and she only ate Nutro Lamb and Rice food (they make both canned and dry) and Nutro Lamb and Rice biscuits. For another treat, the vet said to give her unsalted or lightly salted rice cakes. Good Luck!

You should feed a RAW diet. You will be amazed at the difference in your dog!
