Let's start off from scratch: If it's drying your skin out, don't use it. Even if it's a miracle for acne - there is other stuff out there. Even the best moisturiser won't fully repair it if you keep using this stuff. Most moisturisers are good for any skin, try some out, depending whether you want deep or light moisturiser.
But most of all, change the cleanser or your skin WILL get worse.

Neutrogena products are generally for people will extremely oily teenage skin, which is why its drying your skin out. You should switch to a gentler product. What kind of skin to you have? If you just have blackheads, you should use an exfoliant (like St Ives Apricot scrub). Plain old antibacterial soap works pretty well on whiteheads, or you can stroll the aisle in the drugstore and find a new cleanser (like clean and clear etc. although I still love the rest of the st ives line). Try an oil free moisturizer like Olay, it won't clog your pores or add oil you don't need to your face.

i use the same cleanser... and i definitely know what you are talking about. Problem is, nothing else seems to get rid of the acne like neturogena does!! it's fine to keep using it, but try applying an oil free moisturizer immediately following the cleanser (after you get out of the shower). I love Clean & Clear Oil-Free Oxygenating Facial Moisturizer. The formula is very light, so it doesn't leave your face greasy or shiny looking, and since it is oil-free, it won't clog your pores like normal lotion does... and the scent is light and refreshing!

I wouldn't recommend using a cleanser with salicylic acid. It contains a peeling agent and can make skin dry and flaky. I use Cetaphil and it is wonderful. It is very gentle and makes my skin soft and smooth. Then I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer for sensitive skin. I also use an oil-free foundation. Products containing oil can clog pores. This works great for me. My blackheads are getting smaller, and no breakouts for a week.

You might actually need to look into a different cleanser. Your cleanser shouldn't be drying out your skin.

Nu Skin has a product that will help with your breakouts and will not dry your skin out at all. It is very effective on blackheads, red skin, nad there isn't any shiny effects.
It's awesome! I am on hormone pills, so my skin changes all the time and I still never have a problem.
