Much of your answer will depend on location (you say Canada) and level of experience. For instance, an entry level consultant will not make as much as a 10 veteran. A person living in Arkansas will not make as much as a person living in California.

Credentials matter too: Is the position held by a PE, PG or an intern? If so, then it will pay more than a position held by a biologist or chemist.

I can only tell you what the position pays in my area (Southeast) for an entry level: $30-$35K per year. Multiply by about 1.3 to get to Canadian.

I would go to Career Builder.com and search "environmental" positions in the region where you are located. If none turn up, then increase the search radius to find an area with a comparable cost of living.

Look and see what the pay ranges are for those positions.
