If so, did this include insects and reptiles also, or just the mammals and marsupials?

If insects and reptiles were included, how did a snake turn the tables on humans? And by doing so, didn't the snake prove that his power is greater than God's?

We were given dominion over the planet, not the animals. The world is in our care.

The story in Genesis 3 states that the "serpent" (not "snake") was more subtle than any other creature the Lord God had made (including humans), and you can interpret that as referring to an invader of our new creation. The writer would have believed in the superiority of human beings up to that point, and would have seen the serpent as new on the scene.

If we had dominion over "all" animals as the bible says, would so many people be dying from snake bites, bee stings, animal attacks, etc.. ect... I think not. The idea of humans being able to do whatever they want to animals is rediculous, dominion denotes complete control or even mastery... nature is wild, and for the most part untamed, the way it should be.

As for that whole adam and eve business... I know creationists will claim that the devil was taking the form of a snake, and therefore was not an animal... however, that raises an entirely new set of problems. How could "god" not have known this deception was to occur if he is all powerful? Would a loving god not interject to save his beloved creations? Was god powerless to stop this event, thereby sacrificing his omni-powerful stature? One of millions of logical holes in the bible.

What puzzles me when people ask questions about the story of Adam and Eve, is that nobody notices that THE SNAKE TALKED. Isn't this the most glaring oddity of the story? We can interpret any aspect of the story, any way we want. Apple, or fig tree? Serpent, or snake? Who cares? The snake talked. Are there other stories in the bible in which an animal talks? Why did the snake talk? How did the snake talk? Did all the animals talk? Regardless of the outcome. The snake. Talked.

According to humans he did. I reject that as immature uneducated ancient drivel. As far as the snake and the garden of Eden is concerned, it's a nice story. Just like Hansel and Gretel is a nice story.

I can just imagine Adam and Eve riding around on the backs of lions. That must have been a sight.... Riding on Aslan's back.

Oh and no. They say that it was posessed by Satan. That means that Satan's will is greater than Gods.
